Advisory Committee

PDEX is guided by a national, multidisciplinary Advisory Committee bringing together clinical expertise, academic leadership and lived experience.

The Committee ensures the program is:

  • Clinically sound and grounded in current evidence
  • Practical and relevant to everyday healthcare settings
  • Culturally responsive and inclusive
  • Aligned with Parkinson’s Australia’s strategic priorities
  • Designed to deliver measurable outcomes

Role of the Advisory Committee

The Committee provides strategic oversight and expert advice throughout development and implementation. Members:

  • Review and refine curriculum content
  • Guide co-design and stakeholder consultation
  • Ensure alignment with person-centred care principles
  • Contribute sector insight and real-world experience
  • Support national awareness and uptake

The Committee meets regularly to maintain quality, consistency and accountability across all stages of the project.

Committee Leadership

The Advisory Committee is chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of Parkinson’s Australia and supported operationally by the AGPAL Project Lead.

Governance arrangements include structured agendas, quorum requirements, documented minutes and defined communication processes to support transparency and clear decision-making.

Multidisciplinary Representation

The Advisory Committee includes:

  • Neurologists and movement disorder specialists
  • General Practitioners
  • Parkinson’s Disease Clinical Nurse Consultants
  • Allied health professionals across physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and rehabilitation
  • Academic experts
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health leadership
  • People living with Parkinson’s and carers

This broad representation ensures that clinical rigour is balanced with lived experience and community perspective.
